TEENAGE swimming star Keagan Guest is making waves in the sporting world after becoming the fifth fastest 13-year-old in a national cup competition.
Keagan, a student at Trinity Academy in Thorne, was among the top performers at the recent Scottish National Open Swimming Championships.
A member of Doncaster DARTES and a club in Thorne, the teenager won his heat convincingly before coming in fifth fastest for his age group in the 100m breaststroke final with a time of 1.24.86.
This time saw him placed a very respectable 35th overall, out of 71 competitors at Tollcross Park, in Glasgow.
The fine performance came just two weeks after Keagan had competed in several events at the North Eastern Counties regional championships at Ponds Forge, in Sheffield.
Prior to that, he had won a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke at a county championship event.
And he is not resting on his laurels as he aims to forge a career in the sport, with another A/B Gala event coming up soon at Shipley, near Bradford.
Keagan said: "I've been into swimming for as long as I can remember and I really want to make a career out of it. I was pleased with my performance at the Scottish National Championships, especially as the standard of the competition was so high and now I just want to keep getting better."
Ian Brew, the principal of Trinity Academy, said: "Keagan is an extremely talented young swimmer and we're proud to be associated with his excellent performances in the pool.
"At just 13-years-old, he clearly has a bright future ahead of him and we look forward to seeing his ability develop further over time."
